Your Wine Club, Your Way: How to Customize Your Sweet Wine Club Shipment

Three-bottles

There is a particular kind of disappointment that comes with opening a subscription box and finding one bottle you know you will not drink.

It is nobody’s fault. Taste is personal, and a curated selection cannot read your mind. But it is the single most common frustration with any wine club, and Sweet Wine Club has now fixed it.

What changed

Members can now customize their shipment by substituting wines before the order processes. If a bottle in the upcoming box is not for you, swap it for something you would rather drink.

That is the whole feature, and it is a meaningful one. Your box is still curated by our team, you still get the discovery that makes a club worth joining, and now you also have a say in what actually shows up at your door.

Full details are on the Membership Enhancements page.

How it works

The important part is timing. Substitutions happen before your order processes, which means there is a window rather than an open-ended option.

Make your changes while the shipment is still pending, and the box goes out the way you built it. Wait until after it processes and you are receiving the curated selection as-is.

So the practical advice is simple: when you get the notice that a shipment is coming, open it then rather than later. Two minutes at the right moment is the difference between a box you are excited about and a bottle that sits in the back of a cabinet.

What is in the current box

It helps to know what you are starting from. The current Fall Box includes:

Three-bottle membership: Stella Rosa Moscato d’Asti, Stella Rosa Royale, and Stella Rosa Red Apple.

Six-bottle membership: those three plus Stella Rosa Orange Fruit Passion, Stella Rosa Prosecco Rosé, and Stella Rosa Pink.

If all six sound good, do nothing. If one does not, that is what substitution is for. You can see the full range to swap toward in Shop Wines.

When to customize, and when to let it ride

Here is the honest version, because a feature is only useful if you know when to use it.

Customize when you already know. If you have had a bottle before and it was not for you, swap it. If you are stocking up for a specific occasion and want three of something rather than three different things, swap. If someone in your household has a strong preference, build around it.

Let it ride when you are curious. The curation is the product. Our team picks these boxes to introduce members to wines they would not have chosen on their own, and that discovery is most of what makes a club different from simply ordering bottles you already like.

The best approach for most members is somewhere in between: swap the one bottle you are certain about and leave the rest alone. You keep the surprise and lose the disappointment.

A reasonable rule of thumb is that if you customize every bottle every quarter, you are not really using a wine club. You are using a store with a schedule, and Shop Wines does that job better.

The other ways your membership flexes

Substitution is new, but it joins several things that already made the club easy to live with.

Choose your size. Three bottles or six, depending on how fast you drink and how many people are drinking.

Skip a shipment. Traveling, already well stocked, or just need a quarter off? You can skip from your account. Note that skipping two shipments back to back ends the membership, so space them out.

No commitment. There is no fee to join and no minimum number of shipments. You are charged per shipment rather than upfront.

Member pricing on everything else. Members receive an ongoing discount on wine purchases beyond the box, which is worth knowing if you find a favorite and want a case of it.

You can manage all of it from your account, and the FAQ covers the mechanics in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose which wines come in my Sweet Wine Club box?
Yes. Members can substitute wines before the shipment processes, so you can swap out any bottle that is not for you. The box is still curated by our team, but the final say is yours.

When do I need to make my substitutions?
Before your order processes. Once the shipment is processed it goes out as selected, so the time to make changes is while it is still pending. Watch for the notice that a shipment is coming and handle it then rather than setting it aside.

Do I have to customize every shipment?
Not at all, and most members should not. The curation is a large part of what makes a wine club worth having, and the boxes are built to introduce you to wines you would not have picked yourself. Swapping the one bottle you are sure about and leaving the rest is usually the best balance.

What if I want to skip a shipment instead?
You can skip from your account. One caveat worth knowing: skipping two shipments in a row ends the membership, so if you need a longer break, reach out rather than skipping twice.

Can I buy more of a wine I loved from a past box?
Yes. Wines from past shipments are added to the online store, and members get a discount on wine purchases, so finding a favorite and stocking up is straightforward.
